I completely missed posting challenge 2! We had to make a paper pack, you can find mine at DSA HERE, it co-ordinates with "Deck The Halls" from DSI last December.

This week's challenge is 3 alpha's that match our week 1 mini kit. I created a chipboard alpha in both pink and blue, a silver alpha that also goes with "Chill Out" and a clear acrylic that you can use with any kit! You can find the download links in the Digi Scrap Addicts gallery HERE.

Chilly - Free Mini Kit!

Hey! I've got my entry for the DSA Designer Apprentice challenge posted and free for you to download!! You can find it in the DSA gallery HERE, and here is a peak at the preview! Our task was to photograph and extract 2 items for our kit. I had no idea what theme I was going to do and I took pictures of stuff but they were not quite right. Finally I dug into a box of polymer clay ornaments I made years ago to sell at craft sales and found a handful of cute little penguins. I picked a pink hat peguin and a blue hat penguin and used them to inspire my mini kit - Chilly

Here's me selling at a farmer's market in Gimli Manitoba in 2003, just before Tyler was born!

You might recognize some of the papers in this collection, I started it last year for the Brownie Scraps Design class I was taking! Well, it's finally complete and in my store at Digital Scrap Ink! If you have a peak, you will see I have added my favorites. Oh and there is a SALE right now!

I have a couple of other things I'm working on. I was inspired by The Scrappin Cop's halloween characters and have a Halloween kit on the go. It coordinates with Unwrapped so you can really stretch your scrapping supplies! If you visit the Lounge, you will get a sneak peak. Everyone at the signature chat on Wednesday had a chance to pick one character for their signature!

I also signed up for the Brownie Scraps October Design class again, it was so much fun last time around! Well I haven't posted in forever!! I've been so busy, there are some BIG things going on around here! The first big thing is I moved to a new store! It was completely unexpected, I am now exclusive to Digital Scrap Ink, which is under new (awesome!) management! Please stop by and say hi in the forum! Some layouts

I've been trying to get back into scrapping more lately, I even signed up for the "Amazing Digi Scrapping Race" with my friend Kathi. I'm having a blast and being challenged with all these layouts! Here's a couple I made using some kits I designed, I hope you enjoy them! This is made with "Northern Zoo" we had to scrap 50 things we want to do in our lives. This got me thinking about a lot of things and I'm starting to make some changes to actually accomplishing some of them! The first thing I did, was close my shop at Scrap Bird. I'm looking for another place to that is a better fit for me, I will keep you posted! This layout I made for a "telephone tag" scraplift game at Scrap Orchard. I was already working on the pink papers when my sister posted some photos of my beautiful neice in this really cool dress! It inspired me to start creating a kit. I haven't come up with a theme yet, but I'm leaning towards a vibrant baby them. I love the swatch I came up with this, I have added shades of blue and green along with the pink and orange. The frame in this layout is from ScrapGirls.com.

Northern Zoo - redo!

I've been working on a few things, I haven't had a lot of time since switching my job hours to days. I think I'm finished with "Northern Zoo" originally released during the SAS'y Lady contest. I've redone most of the papers to give them more depth and texture, and I have added a lot of new items. This kit is perfect for camping pictures or even everyday outdoor pictures! It won't be up in my store for a bit longer, but I will let you know when!I've been participating in the Amazing Digital Scrapbook Race, it's been fun but what a challenge! This week's layout consists of our "Bucket List" and we need to create a layout 50 things we want to do. It's taken me all week to make that list! Now to start working on crossing things off that I have accomplished (after I finish this weeks layouts, of course!) I'm still working on the Project 12 kits, I have so much stuff I can't decide what to put in each kit!

I hope everyone is having a great holiday! We drove an hour north of the city to my sister's for Christmas dinner... in a snow storm! We had a fabulous time and ended up staying the night because of a sick kid. Someone in my house always ends up with some flu thing on Christmas! We've been playing with Geotrax trains since we got home today. The basement is one giant train yard. My boys absolutely love them.

I'm still working on getting my Christmas kits uploaded, once they are I'm going to have a little surprise for you! I came across something interesting on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. I love the idea of Project 365, where you document your daily life in photos. It can be a bit overwhelming though. So this year they are working on Project 12!! Every month they are going to post a sketches and some photo ideas to get you started too! I'm going to make a mini kit each month to go with the sketch they post, using a combination of these colors:

Ginger Scraps design contest

I have no idea why I'm doing another one! I guess I'm addicted! So the challenge was a kit with 6 - 10 papers and 10 - 15 elements (6 of which could have no CU stuff). The color swatch I picked was called "Fall Leaves Me Happy" so I did a Christmas kit.
It's taking forever to upload, the candy cane paper is HUGE! I will be posting the links in the Ginger Scraps gallery in the morning. Oh and the no CU stuff is the tree, Santa, Elf, striped ribbon and the 2 paper stars. There is also 3 more sheets of plain "cardstock" not in the preview. I was too tired to try rearranging the template to get it all to fit. I think I need a preview maker.... anyone game? Now I really need to get to bed! It's going to be a long day tomorrow.

New project!

So I have some good news, I was RAK'd by Rachness and am now the proud owner of her journal mats from my previous post! I can't wait to play with them! I am working on a new project, I signed up at Brownie Scraps for their Design School, Fairytale Academy. We are given a choice of pallets and we spend one week working on a componant of our kit. This week it's solid papers, here's what I've come up with so far:
I'm going to add a few more solids to this later in the week, once I decide what theme I should go with. I'm open to suggestions, if you post one, I will randomly RAK someone with the kit when it's all finished!

Wow! I can't believe I made it!!! I was a little shaky that last round!! I gotta step it up a notch! Here's the color pallet for this week, it's a little bright! Should be interesting, I'm going to spend the day (at work LOL) brainstorming this one.... So here's the rules:

Same guidelines as previous rounds
Use the palette provided. Black & white may be added, if appropriate, as a supporting color.
Use the theme "Autumn Fest"
3 papers, ALL must be unique, ALL should have a different pattern and texture.
6 elements, ALL must be unique, 1 must be a cluster element (a clustered element using other elements may be considered unique)
NO CU items allowed

This is due September 22, 2009 by 3:00 pm EST and voting will start after all kits are submitted.

I made it to the second week!! Thanks for voting and downloading "Chill Out" Your comments mean a lot to me, now I want to see some layouts!

Week two is going to be interesting! We have been given one color - PINK! This looks pretty close to the pink in my kit "Lazy Daisy" so I have to work really hard to make something different! The theme is "Best Friends" and I already have some ideas (thanks LisaL!)
This weeks kit needs to have 3 or more colors, 8 papers (5 unique - not recolored) and 12 elements (8 unique) and it's due September 15 at 3 pm EST. I will be working at that time so you will find it uploaded and posted much earlier!

Stone Accent Studio's Designer contest has started! The first challenge is to make a mini kit with 2 -4 papers and 5 - 8 embellishments. One of the embellishments must be a cluster. There was no theme specified, I think I've come up with a good one! This is the color swatch we were given:

I have so many ideas for this, I wrote down a list with WAY more than 8 embellishments on it! Do you know what this means for you? FREEBIES! I'm in another contest! Starting September 1 and it should be exciting! This is going to be one crazy month for me. Tyler starts grade one and I am switching my shifts at work from evenings to days. I've been working evenings for about 5 years (a little maternity leave in there) so this is a HUGE change! Alex will be heading to daycare, which should be fine since he goes there 2 mornings a week already. On top of all this, my office is making a major move across the city at the end of September. I'm hoping the only change I see is where I go to work since it's happening on a Saturday.

I've been working on some new digi kits, I had lost my mojo with all the stress of the shift change, but it's BACK!! Now to just find a little time to get things done.

I'm done my part, with time to spare! I'm not into vintage, so I have no idea what vintage paper looks like! Our team (the Ric Rac team!) had to come up with a color swatch and create a paper pack. Here's the preview of mine:

Designer Survivor first kit is up!

This was one tough challenge! We are not allowed to use any CU tools, no brushes, no styles NOTHING! I had to learn a lot on my own, figured out how to make stitches! I hope they look ok, I will definitely be practicing them. So the challenge was for each team to make a Dr Seuss inspired kit, each person had to have 3 hand drawn items along with a list of required items. Here is my part, the squiggly things are balloon paper clips, hand drawn (I need to figure out how to get things smoother) I LOVE the papers and alpha I created. The word art has 3 phrases, 2 versions of each.You can download my parts here:

Designer Survivor!

I'm so excited! I managed to get into Designer Survivor! For real, not playing the home version (at least until "Tribal Council" Friday night!) We had our first reward challenge, to make a beachy alpha in specific colors. My team didn't win the challenge, but I have a freebie. You can download my part HERE! I have some other news too, I have been accepted into a store!! I still have to get my stuff renamed and uploaded, it's been a very busy week!

Making a go at digital scrapbook designing!

Here it is! I decided to create a blog to showcase my digital designs! I'm trying to find a spot designing in an online store and learning a lot along the way! This is my kit called "Northern Zoo" Living up in Manitoba, our Zoo doesn't have an elephant or a giraffe. I decided to create a collection with a few northern animals. It's great for camping trips too! I do have some more ideas for it and will probably keep adding as I have time! I really like things to look like they are paper scrapped with lots of texture and details to fool the eye.

Keep watching my blog, I missed the sign ups for Designer Survivor at Brownie Scraps but I decided to play along and make a mini kit anyway. The first challenge is posted Enchanted Studio Scraps and the theme is Dr. Seuss Books: whimsical, quirky, fun, childish with this color swatch:

I love these bright colors! I already have 3 solids done (2 versions of each!) and a bunch of ideas. My kit name is "The Mouse in my House" named after my cat who just happens to be named Mouse. I will be working on dog version too, but I haven't come up with a quirky name yet. Anyway, I will put some stuff up as freebies soon enough.
